On 19th February, 1915, the 2nd Royal Lancaster battalion of 83 Brigade, 28th Division, were relived from the line near Zillebeke just to the south of Ypres. However, D Company were ordered to remain and take part in an attempt to recapture a lost trench in 84 Brigade sector. Their attack on 20th February was unsuccessful and resulted in over fifty casualties for the battalion including George Pritchard who was killed. |
